Notes
Frequently,
parish choirs contain more women than men and more often than not
tenors are especially scarce (particularly in England)! For this
reason, we are delighted to publish these six carefully crafted Communion
Motets purposely written for 3 voices (Soprano, Alto & Bass) using
beautiful ancient texts of the 13th and 14th centuries (St. Thomas Aquinas
and others). These pieces fall well within the remit of The Music
Makers, which aims to publish new and original pieces of music in the
polyphonic tradition and which are deliberately designed to be within the
scope of the average amateur parish or mixed secondary school choir.
These
prayers of devotion to the Blessed Sacrament are particularly suitable to
be sung during Communion at Mass, Benediction and Eucharistic adoration.
The
titles of the six Motets are as follows: -

Performance Notes
The
tempo of several of these pieces is deliberately slow. However, I am
conscious that for some choirs it would be difficult to sustain this and
maintain a good sound quality. Choir directors should therefore
adapt accordingly. It is especially important to follow the dynamic
markings, particularly where they vary between voices.
