by Jeremy de Satgé
(Catalogue L014)

Penitential Mass for Eight Voices received its liturgical Premiere in London on 17th February 2008 at Farm Street Church.  The following are some of the written comments received by the composer since the premiere: -

  • We are just writing to say how much we enjoyed the performance of your Penitential Mass.  We thought that it was an excellent addition to the Catholic repertoire of liturgical music. (MMcC & JD)

  • You’ve captured the sombre, penitential mood terrifically well in your Mass, and I think it’s a highly effective and imaginative piece. (P.S. - a cathedral organist)

  • I was much impressed by your setting and thought it had a gripping performance. (J.E. retired church organist)

  • Your composition was truly impressive and perfect for the season of Lent. (JB, London)

  • I hope the Mass gets into circulation. (Fr. W.P.)

  • It was brilliant and I can't even describe it. But just wonderful, rich and polyphonic and very stirring. (L.P.)
